The Typical Wellspring Academies Student
At Wellspring, you'll meet people who are just like you—kids, teens and young adults looking to lose weight and get their lives back on track. Some have struggled academically or stopped going to school altogether. Others have continued to live up to their potential at school, but exhibit signs of low self-esteem and struggle with depression. Others are doing okay emotionally, but are dealing with frightening weight-related health issues.
Wellspring has set specific enrollment criteria for students, including the requirement that students are at least 30 pounds overweight. Excess weight is often accompanied by additional difficulties, and Wellspring has successfully worked with students with a range of academic and emotional issues, IEPs, and medical diagnoses. Please call us at 866.277.0221 to discuss your child's particular situation.
Many of our students have been actively attempting to lose weight, some for quite a long time. Others aren’t ready to acknowledge the problem. For these students, enrollment criteria require that, in a phone interview, they demonstrate an understanding that Wellspring Academies could be an important opportunity for them and that they are willing to give Wellspring a try.
Whatever their story, new students arriving at Wellspring often express a huge sense of relief. Even those students who were resistant to the idea at first find themselves—often for the first time—surrounded by other teens and young adults who understand the struggle they've been through.
When the time comes to make a change for the better, the Wellspring Academies community is here to welcome you.
