Wellspring Admissions Process

At Wellspring Academies (formerly Academy of the Sierras), we work hard to deliver programs that meet the needs of our applicants. With Academies designed for children and young adults ages 11 – 24 available on both coasts, we offer weight loss programs to serve every student.

Wellspring Academy of Californa - ages 11-18. Grades 8-12.

Wellspring Academy of the Carolinas - ages 11-18. Grades 8-12.

Wellspring College Program - ages 18-24. College Program for high school graduates looking to continue college education. Adventure Program for young adults 18 – 24 focused exclusively on weight loss.

Applications are accepted throughout the year for regular start dates at each Wellspring campus.

Criteria for enrollment at all Wellspring campuses are:
• At least 30 lbs. overweight
• Struggling with weight for at least two years.
• No medical issues requiring full-time hospitalization or nursing care.
• Minimum 4 month enrollment requirement.

Wellspring Academies Enrollment Process

Following receipt of your application, you will be contacted by Wellspring Admissions and you will receive an enrollment package. The enrollment package has questions for parents, questions for the prospective student, medical forms to be completed by your family physician, registration forms (including the request for student records form which allows the Wellspring Academic Department to contact your home school and request a transcript), travel information, packing information, and all other information required to prepare to enroll at a Wellspring Academy.

All forms must be completed and received by Wellspring Admissions prior to the student’s arrival on campus.

Dr. Mike Bishop, Executive Director of Wellspring. As a clinical psychologist, Mike brings 20 years of experience working with adolescents and families in a variety of settings. Mike is also a weight controller himself, having lost more than 80 lbs. by following the Wellspring Plan..
